Cross-Eyed Blog and Webzine

I’ve always wanted to start a webzine. Actually I thought about starting one with this current domain. It would have been the ericnovak.com webzine. Fortunately, I’m smart enough to realize that people only expect a personal blog on a domain named after a person (laughs). In June, I told my mom about an idea I had to start a webzine, but since I didn’t have any suitable domain, I didn’t think much more of it. Then in September, the idea to start one suddenly struck me again. I hadn’t thought about it for months, so I began planning just how it would work and what the mission of a webzine would be. The next day a friend of mine contacted me with this email.

“Hey Eric,
This is going to sound kinda’ weird, but I was wondering if you could help me with sort of a blogging problem. As you know, Cross-Eyed is shutting down, despite my feelings for wanting to keep it up and going. I think the ministry opportunity Cross-Eyed has is great, but honestly I am having a hard time regularly updating both my blogs. […]

So what I was wondering is if you know anyone, a guy, or even a group of guys, who has/have a heart for the gospel and would like to take over Cross-eyed. I just hate to see it wasted. It is such a great platform to reach a lost world and encourage believers to remain focus on the cross. If they wanted, I could still occasionally post something, but I would like to see Cross-eyed continue on in the faith - if that makes sense.

You can let me know if God brings someone(s) to your mind, or you can just tell me to let it go, either way I would love any advice. Thanks for you help, even if it is just reading this email. […]

In Christ,
Kaysie”

Isn’t it amazing how God works? The domain was crosseyedblog.com creating an interesting play on words. Cross-Eyed could mean making an amusing face or it could signify having your eyes on the cross. So I picked up Cross-Eyed Blog and ran with it.

These past three months Kaysie and I have been working on the site and it’s turned out beautifully. Now its ready to be released tomorrow and I can’t wait for you guys to see it.

Here is a promotional post that was created for the writers of Cross-Eyed Blog and Webzine. It will help you get a better idea of what Cross-Eyed is all about.

Hello Everyone,

I’ve been featured on a brand new site called the Cross Eyed Blog and Webzine. Their mission is to encourage and build up our brothers and sisters in Christ through articles relevant to our daily lives and struggles. Through the written word they are hoping to impact Christians and help people live lives that glorify God.

Even if you don’t normally read very much, be sure to check Cross Eyed blog. It covers college, dating and courtship, entertainment, faith, marriage and family, politics, time and money, worldview, singleness, devotional life, biblical manhood and womanhood, time & money, gospel and blogging.

Visit their website, watch the promo video, and let me know what you think!

I really love this video, one you’ve made, I’m sure. It’s perfection at it’s best! The webzine is wonderful too, I’ve been reading off and on for nearly two weeks. I hope we’ll be talking again soon with your family, in the meantime, Happy New Year and God Bless you in all your work!

    Hi Eric,

Kaysie told me about this and you did an amazing job! I enjoyed looking it over and will be back to visit often. Was it difficult to set up the webzine? I am hoping to expand my blog into something very similar, and I was astonished to see Kaysie post on this at the very time I was thinking of it. God has His ways :)

    Great work!
    In Him

Wow, Eric! Very cool – and, yes, it is amazing how God works (in His perfect timing I might add.) I’ve prayed that this will be a great ministry tool.

On another topic – I got an email from GoDaddy that an email a database server name has changed and they’d like me to update my site code. Yeah, right!! Wanna help???
